I am a Trinidadian who enjoys sunny days on the beach, philosophy, reading, baking, anime, painting and sports. My weekends are usually spent indoors doing one of the above while enjoying a glass of aged whiskey, beer or malbec wine.
I graduated with my LLB from the University of London in 2018 and my LPC from De Montford University in 2020. I have always held a passion for crime not just in the legal aspect but in the investigative and psychological aspect as well.
In life we often ask ourselves who we are and what is our purpose here. Through life’s many challenges in trying to follow my dreams to become a criminal defence solicitor, giving up was never an option for me because I realised my purpose was a lot bigger than me. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “If you can’t fly then run, if you can’t run then walk, if you can’t walk then crawl, but whatever you do you have to keep moving” and this is what I have done throughout my journey to complete my purpose.
I believe circumstances make us who we are, no one is perfect, and we all make mistakes but that does not mean that life is black and white, nor that a mistake is deserving of the ultimate punishment as we all live very complex lives. Forrest Williams Legal Ltd gave me the opportunity to follow the dreams that are bigger than me and aid in my purpose in life. My first month at Forrest Williams Legal Ltd I had the opportunity to see a case through from the middle to the end with a very amazing team. At trial our client won, and I was caught off guard with the passion and excitement that came with helping someone achieve another chance at life. Maya Angelou said, “Stand up straight and realise who you are, that you tower over your circumstance”
Yes our circumstances make us who we are but we have the ability to amend the story as life goes on.
